National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
NPLQ at Oaklands Community Pool, Southampton. Course price £250 early offer or £270 full price.
All candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the time of assessment.

Course Dates: Monday 28th October 2024-Friday 1st November 2024
Course Assessment Date: Saturday 2nd October 2024 time TBC
All candidates must be able to swim 200m continuously on front and back,
able to reach a depth of 2m and be able to complete a 50m swim in under 60 seconds.
100% course attendance is required as well as a positive attitude to learning.

Monday evening lane swims will be cancelled when it falls on a Bank Holiday.

Child Admission Policy:

The Learner Pool and Main Pool have different ratios for supervision of Adult: Children.

An Adult is someone aged 16+ years.

Learner pool – Children under 3 years must be supervised on a 1 Adult: 2 Children basis (armbands and baby swim rings recommended for safety).

Learner Pool – Children aged 4-7 years must be accompanied on a 1 Adult: 3 Children basis.

Learner Pool – Children over 8 years do not need to be accompanied.

Main pool – children 3 and under must be supervised on a 1:1 basis with an adult

Main Pool – Children aged 4-7 years should be accompanied on a 1 Adult: 2 Children

Main Pool – Children over 8 years do not need to be accompanied.

  • A nice small community swimming pool. My kids have swimming lessons here and really love it. It is clean and whilst a little dated it is well maintained and has a nice smaller family atmosphere. Prices are good and it is not too busy. Overall I recommend it strongly.

  • A great, accessible, community-run facility with plenty of different swimming options and a flume. Swimming lessons do not shut the whole pool so it's possible to have a dip while your child has their lesson. Adult swim for £3.50 compares very favourably with Romsey Rapids and the quays. Minor quibbles are minimum £5 spend on a card, limited showering and hair-dryers only available in female changing (only a drawback if you have a young daughter with long hair like me
